The current global outage of the PlayStation Network has now reached professional esports: Day 3 of the EA FC Pro World Championship, part of the Esports World Cup 2026 in Paris, had to be postponed on short notice.
The tournament was originally scheduled to run from July 22 to 26, 2026, featuring 36 of the world's best EA FC pros and a hefty prize pool of $1,045,000 USD. Since players couldn't log in or warm up before their matches without functional PSN access, the organizers had no choice but to postpone the day's play.
A new schedule has not yet been set. How long the rest of the tournament will be delayed as a result, and whether the schedule can still be caught up before the planned final on July 26, is currently unknown. For the affected pros, the postponement is particularly bitter: After weeks of preparation for the biggest EA FC tournament of the year, a technical problem outside of their control is throwing the entire schedule into disarray.
