The Fortnite community celebrates the start of the biggest tournament of the year today: the Fortnite Global Championship 2026. For two days, 50 of the world's best duos will compete at the Lotto Arena in Antwerp for a total prize pool of $2,000,000 USD.
When Does the Fortnite Global Championship 2026 Start?
The broadcast begins today, September 26, 2026, at approximately 4:00 PM CEST, with the first match of the day starting shortly after, around 5:00 PM. A total of twelve games are scheduled across two days, with six matches each – today and tomorrow, September 27. The tournament will be played in the Duos format, the official competitive format for the FNCS 2026 season, after last year's Global Championship was held as a Trios competition.
Who Are the Top Favorites at the Tournament?
A total of 50 duos from all regions of the world have qualified, with Europe making up the largest contingent with 21 teams, followed by NA Central with 14 duos. Among the most recognizable names in the field are Clix and Peterbot from NA Central, as well as Shxrk. Currently, vic0 and Malibuca are considered particularly in-form, having recently won two consecutive LAN events, making them top contenders for the title. Notably, around 36 players in the field already qualified for last year's Global Championship, bringing valuable LAN experience to this Duos tournament.
Those familiar with the history know: The Global Championship changes its format from year to year. In 2025, it was played in Trios, where SwizzZy, Queasy, and Merstach secured victory at the LDLC Arena in Lyon with a prize pool of approximately $2,001,000 USD. For 2026, Epic Games is now returning to the Duos format – for many fans, this is the more action-packed and unpredictable variant, as fewer players per team mean more responsibility for each individual. If you want to watch live, you can follow the official Twitch and YouTube channels of Fortnite Competitive; Epic Games also maintains the schedule and results on the official event page.
While duos battle for the Fortnite title in Antwerp, another major esports event, the Valorant Champions 2026 in Shanghai, is running concurrently – making for a packed weekend for fans of both battle royale and tactical shooters.
