Rockstar is clearing out its catalog before the release of GTA 6: On Steam, the GTA Trilogy is available for 19.79 Euros (down 67 percent) and GTA 4 Complete Edition for 6 Euros (down 70 percent). Both offers, according to the Steam page, run until November 19, the day GTA 6 is released on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Which GTA games are currently on offer?
The sale includes four games in two packages:
- GTA: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition with GTA 3, Vice City, and San Andreas: 19.79 Euros, down 67 percent (19.79 US dollars in the USA, 19.79 British pounds in the UK)
- Grand Theft Auto IV: The Complete Edition including the expansions The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony: 6 Euros, down 70 percent (5.09 British pounds, 6 US dollars in the USA)
According to PC Gamer, this makes the Trilogy cheaper than ever before, based on IsThereAnyDeal's price history. GTA 4 is reportedly close to its previous lowest price. Deep discounts of 90 percent or more are rare for Rockstar games anyway.
Are these discounts also available on PS5 and Xbox?
No, at least not visibly. PC Gamer found none of these promotions in the Xbox Store or PlayStation Store. This is somewhat ironic: the platform for which GTA 6 is not even announced at launch is getting the clearance offers. According to GamesRadar, a separate offer for the Trilogy at the same price also briefly ran in the Nintendo eShop, but it ended soon after.
Is the Trilogy worth it, or is GTA 4 a better choice?
A look at Steam ratings can help here. The Definitive Edition of the Trilogy launched in a desolate state in 2021 and has since recovered, according to PC Gamer: Vice City and San Andreas have “Very Positive” ratings on Steam, while GTA 3 is only “Mixed.” GamesRadar provides specific numbers: GTA 3 has 66 percent positive reviews, Vice City 83 percent, and San Andreas 80 percent. Criticisms for GTA 3 primarily concern launcher issues, bugs, and performance drops.
Our assessment: If you primarily want to play Vice City or San Andreas, you get a lot of game for just under 20 Euros, but you'll have to live with some rough edges in GTA 3. If you only want to catch up on one older GTA, the Complete Edition of GTA 4 for 6 Euros is the most affordable option. The game was released in 2008 and marked the shift to the more serious tone that still defines the series today. Important: The discount ends on the same day as the wait for GTA 6, so if you want to grab it, don't wait until the last moment.
And PC fans? According to the source, GTA 6 is initially announced only for consoles. You can read what a former Rockstar technical director says about a possible PC port in our article on the expectation of an earlier PC port.
