GTA 6: Sensor Tower Sees Nearly 8 Million Pre-Orders – PS5 Dominates

The hype curve for GTA 6 continues its steep ascent. According to an updated tracker from market researcher Sensor Tower, approximately 7.71 million copies have been sold via digital pre-orders so far. This equates to a gross revenue of about 751 million US dollars, GameSpot reports. Important: These are unofficial estimates; neither Rockstar nor Take-Two have confirmed any figures.

How many pre-orders has GTA 6 received so far?

  • Approximately 7.71 million units sold via pre-orders
  • Gross revenue of about 751 million US dollars
  • The PS5 significantly dominates the platform distribution

This figure is an estimate based on digital sales. Physical copies are typically not included in such trackers, so the actual total number is likely higher.

How has the estimate evolved?

For comparison: On October 20, Sensor Tower reported around 6.45 million pre-orders and approximately 630 million dollars in revenue. Of these, about 74 percent, or roughly 4.8 million copies, were for the PlayStation 5, while the Xbox Series X|S accounted for about 1.66 million. Before the Extended Look, the estimate was still around 4.55 million. The curve has thus grown by more than three million copies within just a few weeks.

What do these estimates mean for the November 19 launch?

These figures don't change anything for you immediately, but they do indicate the immense demand expected at launch. Those who have pre-ordered should keep an eye on the preload: You can find all details in our report on the preload start on November 10. We summarized how optimistic analysts are in our news about the survey showing 70 percent purchase interest.

Tracker figures like these are more of a trend indicator than a sales balance. Sensor Tower does not disclose its calculation methodology in detail. The estimate is from November 3 and only includes digital pre-orders. The fact that the PS5 leads the pack with around 74 percent is hardly surprising given the previous distribution.
