GTA 6: Major Questions Still Unanswered by Current Gameplay Footage

GTA 6 gameplay footage has been the talk of the town for weeks. Rockstar's roughly 26-minute “Extended Look” was released on August 27, showcasing Jason, Lucia, and large parts of Vice City and the state of Leonida. Despite this, a recent analysis by GameStar and GamePro suggests several important questions remain unanswered.

What GTA 6 Still Hasn't Revealed About Its Online Mode?

Rockstar has not uttered a single word about the multiplayer component of GTA 6 to date. It's unknown whether GTA Online will continue within Leonida or if there will be a completely new online spin-off. For many fans, this is the biggest gap in the current footage – after all, GTA Online boasts a massive audience of millions who have been waiting for new content for years.

How Much of Leonida's Full Map Scope Have We Really Seen?

While the Extended Look showcased a dense Miami-style metropolis along with surrounding swamp and coastal areas, GameStar and GamePro suggest it was only a fraction of the full map. Rockstar itself emphasizes that the game is so packed with content it's almost impossible to present it fully. How large Leonida will ultimately be and what lies beyond the districts shown remains speculative. Furthermore, rumors about a possible Liberty City expansion are yet to be confirmed.

What Does Jason and Lucia's Relationship System Mean for the Story's Ending?

Rockstar has confirmed that the relationship between Jason and Lucia will influence the course and ending of the story. However, the studio hasn't explained precisely how this will play out, which decisions truly matter, or how many different endings there might be. According to GameStar and GamePro, this very ambiguity is fueling much of the community's speculation.

To put this in perspective, it's worth looking back: during the marketing for GTA 5 in 2013, Rockstar also kept central systems like the Heists under wraps for a long time – many details only came to light shortly before release and in previews. It's likely to be similar with GTA 6. So, those waiting for concrete answers regarding the online mode, map size, and story branching should rely more on further previews and leaks leading up to the November 19 release than on another major trailer. Rockstar's elaborate Vice City marketing campaigns also show that the studio is focusing more on atmosphere and teasers than on complete transparency until launch.
