Three days, 18 matches, one champion: At the Esports World Cup 2026 in Paris, Virtus.pro secured the title in the PUBG tournament. This means they dethrone the reigning champions, Twisted Minds, who fell short this year.
It was thrilling until the very end: In the group stage, other teams were actually ahead. Made in Thailand entered the Finals as the frontrunner with 119 points, followed by T1 with 110 and Natus Vincere with 93 points. However, for the Grand Finals, the points were reset, meaning all teams started from zero again. Virtus.pro capitalized on this perfectly, dominating the decisive three days. Croatian player Nino “NIXZYEE” Mikec was also named the tournament MVP, securing a personal bonus of an additional 25,000 US dollars. In total, Virtus.pro took home 660,000 US dollars in prize money for their tournament victory.
The Esports World Cup 2026 will continue through August, bringing the best teams from countless different games to Paris on various dates. For the PUBG scene, however, one of the year's most significant prizes has now already been awarded with Virtus.pro's win – and that after a tournament progression that remained completely open until the very last day.
