At the CS2 tournament FISSURE Playground #3, which boasts a million-dollar prize pool, G2 Esports made quick work of FURIA in the quarterfinals. The team has thus secured their spot in the semifinals of the tournament, which runs until September 13.
How Did G2 Triumph Over FURIA?
On the first map, Ancient, G2 prevailed with a close 16:14 scoreline after a hard-fought battle. On Dust2, there was no longer any debate: G2 clearly dominated, securing a convincing 13:3 victory. This sums up to a clear 2:0 win and an early advance to the next round.
Who Will Clash in the FISSURE Playground #3 Semifinals?
On Saturday, G2 will face BetBoom Team in the semifinals, the winner of Group A. In the second semifinal, MIBR will go up against Legacy, the winner of Group B. Both semifinal matchups will determine who ultimately secures a share of the one-million US dollar prize pool, a portion of which was already guaranteed to teams like FURIA, G2, FaZe, and Astralis for their placements in the group stage.
For G2 fans, the clear victory over FURIA is good news: The team is currently showing consistently strong form and made a statement with their dominant Dust2 performance. Whether that will be enough to prevail against an equally strong BetBoom Team will be decided on Saturday.
