Microsoft has confirmed the first wave of new Xbox Game Pass titles for September 2026. Kicking things off is the diving roguelite Shelldiver, available now on Cloud, Console, and PC. Several big names are set to follow later in the month, promising plenty of variety for subscribers.
What New Games Are Coming to Xbox Game Pass in September?
- Shelldiver (Cloud, Console, PC) – available now
- The Royal Writ, a tactical lane-roguelike deckbuilder with permadeath – from September 10, launching directly into the Pass
- Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. World Stage – from September 10
- Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War – new to the catalog
- RuneScape: Dragonwilds – full version launch on September 15
- SpeedRunners 2: King of Speed, a co-op racing game – later this month
According to Microsoft, additional titles not yet announced in detail will follow later in the second September wave.
Why is Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War a Special Addition for Game Pass Subscribers?
The classic support shooter is part of a longer development: Microsoft had already announced that several older Call of Duty titles would be added to the Game Pass catalog during 2026 – as compensation for the fact that new main series installments have not been launching directly into the subscription at release for some time, and the entry price for Ultimate has recently increased. So, those who had hoped for a new title on day one in the Pass are instead frequently getting older, yet refined, editions like Cold War. From our perspective, it's a clever compromise: Cold War's campaign and Zombies mode are still among the more popular parts of the series, even if some subscribers would prefer the current installment directly on the Pass.
What Does the Full Launch of RuneScape: Dragonwilds Mean for Players?
RuneScape: Dragonwilds officially leaves its extended Early Access phase on Steam on September 15 and will be released as a full version for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S – and will be included directly in Game Pass from that day. Players who have already experienced the survival game in Early Access can expect the final content scope that Jagex has planned for the release; newcomers will immediately get the complete version without Early Access restrictions. For subscribers, this specifically means: no additional purchase is necessary; the game can be downloaded directly via the Game Pass app on launch day.
