The Blood of Dawnwalker: Rebel Wolves Already Working on a Sequel

Less than a week has passed since its release, and developer studio Rebel Wolves has already begun planning for a sequel to The Blood of Dawnwalker. The reason is simple: the vampire horror RPG is performing exceptionally well, both commercially and critically.

How Successful Was The Blood of Dawnwalker's Launch?

The numbers speak for themselves: over a million copies sold within a few days, a “Very Positive” rating across several thousand Steam reviews, and an 83 percent score from PC Gamer itself. On Steam, the title reached a peak of around 70,000 concurrent players – a remarkable achievement for a studio without an established brand. We've already detailed how rapidly sales soared immediately after release in our report on its explosive launch.

What Do We Know About the Sequel So Far?

The news broke on LinkedIn: Narrative Director Jakub Szamałek of Rebel Wolves confirmed that the studio is already in the pre-production phase for a new chapter in the Dawnwalker saga. Coinciding with this, the team posted a job advertisement for a Lead Writer position, who will report directly to Szamałek and help shape “the next chapter of the Dawnwalker saga” with him. Naturally, there are no concrete details yet regarding the setting, plot, or release date – at such an early stage, it will likely be several years until publication. However, a first glimpse into the broader direction of the saga was already provided: at the Summer Game Fest, Rebel Wolves showed a CGI teaser that presented protagonist Coen in a completely different, modern environment, hinting at where the story might lead in the long term.

The ability to move so quickly towards a sequel is also tied to Rebel Wolves' history: the Polish studio was founded just a few years ago by former CD Projekt Red developers who previously worked on The Witcher series. The Blood of Dawnwalker is their debut work – and it's anything but a given that a brand-new studio would achieve a million sales and largely positive reviews with its first game. From our perspective, this primarily demonstrates how much trust the gaming community places in experienced developers, even without an established brand – and that Rebel Wolves has more than earned that trust so far. For fans, this early announcement mainly means one thing: patience. Years are likely to pass before a playable sequel, while the current game will surely continue to be supported with patches and potentially additional content in the meantime.
