Sony Responds: Helldivers 2 and Other PC Games Suddenly Vanished from UK Steam Store

A brief scare for UK PC gamers: Several Sony-published titles, including Helldivers 2 and Horizon Forbidden West, suddenly disappeared from the UK Steam Store on Wednesday. Sony has since confirmed the problem.

Which Games Disappeared from the UK Steam Store?

Several Sony-published PC titles were affected, most notably Helldivers 2 and Horizon Forbidden West. For new buyers, the games were simply no longer discoverable or purchasable in the British store. According to reports, players who already owned the games could continue to play them normally – only the availability in the store was affected, not access to already purchased titles.

What Is Sony Saying About the Games' Disappearance?

Sony Interactive Entertainment has since issued an official statement, explaining that they are aware of an issue affecting the availability of certain titles on Steam in the UK and are working with Valve on a solution. Sony has not yet disclosed how many titles are precisely affected, what the cause is, or when the games will return.

From our perspective, this isn't the first time Helldivers 2 has caused a stir in connection with storefront issues: Previously, Sony had completely removed the game from sale in numerous countries without PSN access, which at the time drew significant criticism from the community. The current case appears to be technically related and is likely to be resolved more quickly, but it once again demonstrates how confusing the availability of Sony's PC ports can be depending on the region.
