Reinforcements are on the way for all Super Earth patriots: Helldivers 2 will receive a new Warbond on September 22. It goes by the name “Ironclad Democracy” and was officially announced on the PlayStation Blog by developer Arrowhead Game Studios.
What exactly is a Warbond, and how do you get the new content?
In Helldivers 2, Warbonds are the core content model for new gear. Instead of a traditional Battle Pass with a real-money price, content is unlocked using Super Credits, which can be earned in-game or purchased. “Ironclad Democracy” joins a long list of previous Warbonds that have been released at regular intervals since the game’s launch in February 2024 – offering everything from weapons and armor sets to new Stratagems, there’s been something for every taste so far.
What should Helldivers be preparing for now?
True to its name, much indicates that the focus this time will be on more robust, defensively-oriented gear. Arrowhead traditionally releases detailed patch notes with all weapons, armor, and Stratagems only shortly before the actual launch. So, if you don't want to miss the start, mark September 22 on your calendar and gather enough Super Credits in the meantime to jump right in.
Our Take: Arrowhead has so far struck a good balance between monetization and fairness with the Warbond model – the community typically reacts much more relaxed to new Warbonds than to classic Battle Passes in other live-service games, as everything can be earned without real money. This approach is likely to ensure strong engagement for “Ironclad Democracy” as well.
