Studio NoShadow has today released its survival RPG Scavland into Early Access after six years of development. The setting: a post-apocalyptic, Soviet-influenced world through which players must fight their way in a top-down pixel-art style.

Scavland is described as a hardcore survival RPG where resource scarcity, equipment maintenance, and constant threat are paramount. Press reports draw comparisons to classics like S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Escape from Tarkov, and Metro – games known for their unforgiving, atmospheric post-apocalyptic mood. Anyone who has played these titles should quickly find their footing in Scavland, even if the top-down perspective offers a significantly different view of the action than the first-person perspective of the aforementioned inspirations.
