Pokémon GO Fest 2026: Global Make-Up Event Follows Technical Chaos

This year's Pokémon GO Fest 2026 didn't go entirely as planned: technical problems caused significant frustration within the community during the event. Niantic responded with an apology and followed up with action, rather than simply moving on.

A make-up event, originally intended only for specific regions, was promptly extended to the entire player base. On Sunday, July 26th, the global compensation event ran from 10 AM to 7 PM local time. As a gesture of goodwill, several noticeable improvements were offered to all Trainers:

• The number of free Raid Passes was increased from nine to twelve
• The event's highlight was a Mega Mewtwo Y Super Mega Raid
• This Raid offered an increased chance of encountering a shiny Mewtwo
• The window for Remote Raids was extended into the late evening

The fact that Niantic is making amends here, rather than simply riding out the issues, has been well-received by the community – especially since GO Fest tickets aren't exactly cheap, and disruptions during a live event taste particularly bitter. For everyone who had bad luck on the original date, the make-up event served as a fair second chance to experience the Mewtwo highlight.
