No Rest for the Wicked: 1.0 Release Pushed to March 2027

No Rest for the Wicked was originally slated to celebrate its final 1.0 release a month before GTA 6 – but that's no longer the case. Developer Moon Studios is pushing the game's launch out of Early Access and into its full version from October 2026 to March 2027.

Why is Moon Studios delaying No Rest for the Wicked's 1.0 Release?

The studio primarily cites technical and structural aspects as reasons for the delay: performance needs further optimization, and the team is also still refining the class system and general polishing. Instead of rushing the release under pressure, Moon Studios is consciously taking more time.

When Can You Play an Open Beta for No Rest for the Wicked?

For those who don't want to wait until March 2027, there's an interim opportunity: an Open Beta is scheduled for December 2026, allowing players to get hands-on with newer content and adjustments before the final version arrives.

From our perspective, this is an understandable decision. With the Ori series, Moon Studios has built a reputation for preferring to polish longer rather than releasing an unfinished product – and particularly for an action-heavy Souls-like like No Rest for the Wicked, the entire enjoyment hinges on refined combat mechanics and stable performance. For Early Access players, nothing changes immediately with the delay: the current Early Access version remains playable and will continue to receive updates leading up to the Open Beta in December.
