Minecraft fans should pay close attention today: At MC Championship: Fall Stars, Mojang will reveal live the official name of the third major update for 2026. Until now, among developers and in the snapshots, it has only been referred to as “Drop 3,” but starting tonight, the update will finally have a proper name.
When Exactly Will the Update Name Be Revealed Today?
According to the official MC Championship account, the reveal will take place during the Fall Stars stream on September 5th at 8 PM British Time, which is 9 PM German Time. The entire event will be broadcast live as usual on the official Minecraft Twitch channel, hosted by the well-known hosts Couriway and Jojosolos. As always, 40 participants who have already secured at least one victory in previous MCC events will take part.
What Content Is Already in the Upcoming Update?
Even though the name is still missing, the general content is already well-known from the snapshots: The focus is on a new forest biome featuring Poplar trees that come in three different leaf colors, along with a new wood type and several new natural blocks. On top of that, there are stairs and slabs for concrete and wool, new pillow decorations, and straw beds. A new structure, an abandoned camp, is also being introduced, suitable for exploring and looting.
For the community, this is more than just cosmetic: New building materials and a fresh biome automatically mean new possibilities for Redstone contraptions, survival bases, and adventure maps – so content creators are likely already in the starting blocks, eagerly awaiting the update to officially have a name and release date. Traditionally, the full release of a drop follows a few weeks after the official name announcement at an MCC event, historically usually around two to four weeks.
Anyone who can't be there live for tonight's reveal shouldn't worry: The name will make its rounds within minutes on every relevant Minecraft forum and on Reddit. More exciting, in any case, will be how Mojang balances the new forest biome and whether there are further surprises in the final patch that haven't been leaked yet.
