GTA 6: Ultimate Edition Dominates PS Store Charts – Ending the $60 Era

The Ultimate Edition of GTA 6 is currently leading the PlayStation Store pre-order charts in nine markets – including the USA, UK, Japan, and South Korea. This is notably ahead of the more affordable Standard Edition. It's no surprise, as the hype for Rockstar's next mega-blockbuster is at its peak right now, four and a half months before release.

More interesting than its chart position, however, is the price: At $79.99 for the Standard Edition, Rockstar is officially ending the decades-long $60 norm for AAA games. The Ultimate Edition costs an even higher $99.99. As expected, this has sparked controversial discussions within the community, with many wondering if this will set a precedent for the entire industry.

Despite this, analysts at Newzoo still anticipate a record-breaking launch for the game: Digital sales alone are projected to generate around $260 million in the launch week, with total launch revenue estimated between $3.3 and $5.2 billion. This would equate to between 37 and 51 million units sold – figures other studios can only dream of.
