GTA 6: Over 6 Million Digital Pre-orders According to Sensor Tower

The hype for GTA 6 is clearly reflected in the numbers: According to estimates from the analytics firm Sensor Tower, as reported by GamesIndustry and Wccftech, digital pre-orders have surpassed the 6 million mark. The estimated revenue stands at around 594 million US dollars.

How Are GTA 6 Pre-orders Split by Platform?

PlayStation clearly dominates: Approximately 74 percent of digital pre-orders go to Sony, roughly 4.5 million units. Xbox accounts for around 26 percent, or about 1.6 million. Earlier analyses had PlayStation at approximately 77 percent – indicating a slight shrink in its lead. Sensor Tower also states that around 90 percent of all pre-orders are for the more expensive Ultimate Edition.

How Solid Are These Figures?

Important: These are third-party estimates. Rockstar and Take-Two have not confirmed any figures. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick recently emphasized that pre-orders can be canceled and should not be equated with final sales. Furthermore, physical retail sales are completely missing from this calculation. The extent of this effect was recently demonstrated by the report on Edeka's early sales.

When Can We Expect Official GTA 6 Figures?

A first indication could be November 9th: On that day, Take-Two will hold its conference call for the second quarter of fiscal year 2027. Whether the company will disclose concrete pre-order figures then remains to be seen – it has been reticent on the matter so far.

From our perspective, these figures primarily show one thing: The title is selling on a grand scale long before its release. For players, this practically means that limited stock for console bundles and Ultimate Editions is conceivable.
