Those looking to grab GTA 6 in stores won't have to wait until November 19th. Edeka is advertising the Rockstar game in its current flyer (offer week October 19th to 24th, 2026) with the words: “The countdown is on! GTA VI: Available punctually for its sales launch on November 12th, 2026, in your store!” The supermarket is therefore stocking Grand Theft Auto VI a week before its official release.

Why is GTA 6 Available on November 12th?
The official release remains November 19th, 2026. The catch: The box doesn't contain a disc, but only a download code. To ensure physical box purchasers aren't at a disadvantage compared to digital buyers, the box will be available in stores on November 12th. The preload also begins on this day. However, you won't be able to play until November 19th, when the game is unlocked.
Edeka isn't alone in this. According to GamePro, the game will also be on shelves at other usual retailers like MediaMarkt on November 12th. At Edeka, GTA 6 was briefly available for pre-order last week, but it currently seems that's no longer possible.
Physical or Digital: Which GTA 6 Version Is Worth It?
There's a special detail: In retail stores, such as Edeka, MediaMarkt, and others, you'll initially only get the Standard Edition. The Ultimate Edition is exclusively available in the PlayStation Store and Xbox Store. In terms of price, the Standard Edition costs 79.99 Euros, while the Ultimate Edition is 99.99 Euros. Pre-orders have been open since June 25th, 2026.
Our brief buying guide:
- Physical Box (in store): Standard Edition, download code instead of disc, preload from November 12th. Convenient if you like buying in stores or want to gift the code.
- Digital (in store): Here you can also get the Ultimate Edition, also with preload from November 12th.
- Standard now, Ultimate later: Those who opt for the Standard version can upgrade to the Ultimate Edition later.
From our perspective, the physical box is mainly just packaging. There's no disc to insert, so you won't be spared the download either way. If you're unsure whether the Ultimate Edition is worth its price, going with the Standard plus a later upgrade offers flexibility. Those who want everything immediately should order digitally.
Nevertheless, a supermarket flyer serving as a release announcement is a clear sign of how massive the hype is. You can find more on the age rating in our article about the USK rating of 18+, and we've analyzed the launch trailer here for you.
