GTA 6: Rockstar Rolls Out Custom Cars in Miami

Rockstar's marketing for GTA 6 is getting increasingly creative. This time, real cars are rolling through Miami, designed to look like their in-game counterparts. Rockstar itself has not yet commented on this. Reports are based on local observations and social media posts.

What Was Spotted in Miami?

The convoy drove closely together through the city. All vehicles bore Leonida license plates, representing the fictional state where GTA 6 is set. Particularly striking was a Lamborghini Huracán styled like the VCPD, Vice City's police.

Additionally, a McLaren was spotted, modified to resemble the Progen Emerus. Other vehicles were reminiscent of the following in-game models:

  • Cheetah
  • Coquette D10
  • Tempesta
  • Mañana

The first hints came via X, including from the @WillMacGTA account. Local media outlet Only in Dade also showed some of the cars at a gas station. A Goodyear blimp with GTA 6 advertising floated overhead.

How Are Fans Reacting to the Stunt?

The mood on social media is predominantly positive. Many players are praising the campaign's creativity. One user raved about the VCPD Huracán, while another celebrated how Miami is turning the release into a city-wide event.

This isn't the first such initiative. Rockstar has had a presence in Miami for some time, including at the beach and in collaboration with the Miami Heat. We've previously highlighted how local marketing can also draw criticism in our earlier coverage of Miami marketing. The fact that Rockstar is intentionally ramping up these efforts aligns with the timeline. GTA 6 is set to release on November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series.

What Does This Mean for the GTA 6 Launch?

From our perspective, this stunt demonstrates how important the connection to the real city is for Rockstar. The game parodies Florida and Miami. When real streets suddenly showcase in-game vehicles, the line between marketing and game world blurs. For fans, this is a taste of what they can experience themselves starting from launch.

The dynamic of recent weeks further supports this. The surprisingly released launch trailer had already noticeably stoked anticipation. However, nothing about the modified cars has been officially confirmed. Whether Rockstar will continue to use these vehicles or if further surprises will follow remains to be seen.

One thing is clear: the campaign appears more elaborate than much of what's typically seen from major studios. It's unlikely things will quiet down in Miami before the launch.
