In GTA 6, it's no longer just about Wanted stars. As GameStar reports, a new criminal profile system assesses how you commit your crimes: quietly and professionally, or loudly and brutally. Details on this come from Australian YouTuber TGG, among others, who refers to an interview with Rockstar.
How Does the Criminal Profile Work in GTA 6?
The system measures efficiency, style, and level of violence. It thus differs from the good-and-evil honor system in Red Dead Redemption 2. You are classified on a scale from Professional to Psycho, represented by angel and devil symbols. The levels in the normal profile are:
- Professional
- Aggressive
- Violent
- Psycho
Additionally, there's a fifth mode called "Unforgivable" for especially deranged criminals. Players who consistently play violently are said to end up there.
What Does the Profile Mean for Jason and Lucia?
Your reputation is not only supposed to influence the story but also the behavior of the world. If Jason or Lucia are considered brutal, NPCs and the police will react differently – more fearfully or more aggressively, respectively. Those who act as efficient professionals and avoid unnecessary violence will be perceived differently. Both main characters can have different profiles.
Actions necessary for quest objectives are excluded from the system. However, if you shoot uninvolved civilians during robberies, your rank will be lowered. You can polish up your reputation with positive actions like collecting trash or petting animals.
What Does This Mean for Players?
From our perspective, the system fits well with Rockstar's attention to detail, which is also evident in the roughly 600,000 animations for the NPCs. It can give weight to decisions, as chaos will then have noticeable consequences. Whether it's fun or patronizing will only become clear with the finished game. This information is secondhand and has not yet been fully officially confirmed.
For fans who simply want to wreak havoc, it will be interesting to see how much the classification truly restricts the gameplay experience.
