GTA 6: 210 GB Download Size – Preload Kicks Off November 12th

Clear some space on your console: GTA 6 is reportedly around 210 GB in size, according to multiple reports. This figure originates from the X account 'PlayStation Game Size' and has been corroborated by Insider Gaming, as reported by Kotaku. Rockstar has not officially confirmed the size yet.

When Does the GTA 6 Preload Start?

The preload kicks off on November 12th, with the full release following on November 19th at midnight. The Standard Edition is priced at $79.99 USD. According to ComputerBase, GTA 6 will be exclusively a digital download, which could lead to significant network strain in the days leading up to launch.

How Much Storage Space Does GTA 6 Really Need?

At 210 GB, the game is substantial, but not record-breaking. Kotaku notes that several Call of Duty titles, along with their DLC, consume more space on consoles, as does ARK: Survival Evolved with all its expansions. However, players using a smaller console like the Xbox Series S, with its roughly 512 GB of storage, need to do the math: significantly less is usable on those systems, and GTA 6 would occupy almost two-thirds of it. This figure also doesn't account for future updates, DLC, and the online mode, which has yet to be revealed. The final size could also change before launch.

What Should You Do Before the Preload?

We recommend clearing 250 GB of space now to ensure day-one patches don't run into issues. Deleting old games or offloading them to an external SSD is the quickest way. Also, factor in download time: at 100 Mbps, 210 GB will theoretically take around 4.7 hours; at 50 Mbps, it's almost ten hours. We've summarized how to weigh digital versus physical editions in our GTA 6 buying guide.

By utilizing the preload, you'll avoid server congestion on launch day and can start playing right at midnight.
