Rumor: Is Spotify Teasing a GTA 6 Collaboration with Rockstar Games?

Important note: This is a rumor that has NOT yet been officially confirmed by Rockstar Games or Spotify.

This week, huge digital billboards featuring Grand Theft Auto artwork—adorned with the Spotify logo—have appeared in several major US cities. This fuels speculation about a potential music collaboration between the streaming service and Rockstar Games surrounding GTA 6.

What exactly can be seen on the Spotify billboards?

As early as September 15, several well-known musicians, including Travis Scott, Future, Metro Boomin, Morgan Wallen, PinkPantheress, and Keith Richards, reportedly posted GTA 6-esque image motifs on their social media channels, tagging Rockstar Games. One day later, Spotify seemingly followed suit, placing the same motifs on physical billboards in Los Angeles, New York, and Miami—each featuring its own Spotify branding. Spotify itself posted photos of the billboards without any captions or explanations.

What could be behind the alleged Rockstar-Spotify deal?

Neither Spotify nor Rockstar Games have officially commented on the true nature of this campaign yet. However, the combination of coordinated artist posts and the subsequent Spotify billboards strongly suggests some kind of music tie-in that could launch in time for the GTA 6 release—potential ideas include exclusive tracks, curated playlists, or music produced specifically for the game's virtual radio.

From our perspective, such a campaign fits well with the previous marketing pattern surrounding GTA 6: Rockstar and its involved partners are clearly relying on cryptic, piecemeal hints instead of a clear announcement—a recipe that has already generated plenty of discussion with previous teasers for the game (see also our report on the much-debated driving physics video). Until Rockstar or Spotify officially comment, however, it remains pure speculation.
