The Ocarina of Time Remake for the Nintendo Switch 2 was actually supposed to be officially revealed with its price during today's Zelda Direct. However, according to reports, Nintendo might have preempted this moment themselves.
What was allegedly seen in the eShop?
According to Nintendo Life, the Australian eShop briefly displayed the price of the remake before the listing disappeared again. The price cited is 94.95 Australian Dollars for the digital version, which converts to approximately 60 US Dollars or around 55 Euros. A physical version is reportedly expected to be slightly more expensive, at around 70 US Dollars. Several independent portals, such as Nintendo Wire and Nintendo Everything, picked up on the news promptly, lending additional weight to the rumor – however, an official confirmation from Nintendo itself is still pending.
Why would this price even be noteworthy?
Should the rumored 55 Euros for the digital version be confirmed, the remake's price would be noticeably lower than what many fans had expected after Nintendo's recent re-releases. Full-price ports of older titles recently sparked discussions because they were barely cheaper than brand-new developments. A more moderate price for a remake that has been completely rebuilt technically would therefore be quite a surprise – and could help further fuel expectations for today's Direct.
How reliable are such eShop price leaks typically?
Accidentally unlocked store listings are among the more reliable sources for leaks, as they usually originate directly from the publishers' systems and are not based on speculation. Nevertheless, it's important to remember: Until official confirmation during the Direct, it remains a rumor, and prices could theoretically still change between internal systems and the final announcement, for example, due to regional adjustments or last-minute decisions in Nintendo's marketing.
