Relief for all PS5 drivers: Despite rumors to the contrary, Forza Horizon 6 is still coming to Sony's console in 2026. Playground Games clarified this in an official blog update on September 7th, directly addressing the PlayStation community.
Previously, several reports had speculated that Microsoft might delay the port to 2027 to avoid clashing directly with the release of GTA 6 on November 19th. Playground Games now explicitly refutes this: the development schedule is on track, even if a concrete date is still missing.
When Will Forza Horizon 6 Be Released on PS5?
Officially, it's only “later this year” – the developer hasn't revealed anything more so far. With September already underway, the last quarter of 2026 is practically the only remaining window. Fans can already add the game to their PlayStation Store wishlist to be notified of an official release date announcement. The Tokyo Game Show, running from September 17th to 21st, is considered a likely event for a concrete date reveal.
Why Did Delay Rumors Emerge in the First Place?
The suspicion: Microsoft might have intentionally wanted to keep the PS5 release out of the direct competitive sphere of Rockstar's mega-release. A Forza Horizon release amidst this commotion would likely be lost in the media spotlight, which made the delay rumors sound quite plausible.
The announcement can also be interpreted strategically: Following several other former Xbox exclusive titles, Forza Horizon 6 is another example of Microsoft's strategy to also release major first-party brands on PlayStation in the future, instead of tying them exclusively to its own console. For PS5 owners, this specifically means: It's worth adding the game to your wishlist now and keeping an eye on the Tokyo Game Show – that's the most likely place to expect solid news regarding the date.
