Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 „Override“: Epic Confirms August 20 Start

On August 5, things briefly went haywire in the Fortnite news feed – the screen flickered, text glitched confusingly. Not a bug, but the first teaser for the new season. Now it's official: Epic Games has confirmed Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 under the name „Override”.

The motto of the new season is „Break the Rules, Change the Game” – and the logo itself, with its pixelated glitch look, hints at the direction things are heading. For weeks, leaks have also been circulating about a Gaming Legends theme with allusions to well-known video game icons. Epic has not officially confirmed this part yet, but the symbolism in the logo and marketing fits the picture.

Override kicks off on August 20, 2026. But before that, there's still a lot happening: On August 15, the „Unstable” live event will take place, bidding farewell to the current Season 3. Season 3 itself officially ends on August 19, before the new season launches directly the following day. Epic has not yet officially commented on specific skins, Battle Pass content, or a trailer. The circulating leaks about crossover characters from the gaming world therefore remain speculation for now, until Epic itself shows images or a trailer.

What This Means for Your Current Battle Pass

For everyone still grinding: The current Season 3 Battle Pass runs until August 19. If you still have levels open, you should use the next two weeks, because, as with every season change, there will be no catching up afterwards. This is familiar from previous Fortnite transitions: As soon as the new season starts, old challenges and the old Pass disappear from the game, and unused progress is then gone.

Just recently, Epic had significantly ramped things up again with the Update v41.30, even before heading into the next season – so the pace in Fortnite remains consistently high. By August 20, Epic is likely to reveal more incrementally; typically, official trailers and Item Shop previews are released shortly before the season launch.
