A true classic is celebrating its birthday: Final Fantasy X is turning 25, and Square Enix is releasing the HD Remaster of Final Fantasy X and its direct sequel X-2 digitally today on Nintendo Switch 2, just in time for the occasion. Those who prefer a physical copy on their shelf will have to wait until August 27th, when the retail version will be released.
To mark the anniversary, Square Enix has also released a new trailer that once again highlights the story of Tidus, Yuna, and their journey through the world of Spira. Final Fantasy X is still considered one of the series' most beloved installments, not least because of its emotional ending and its well-rounded combat system, which brought a real advancement over its predecessors with the Conditional Turn-Based System.
Content-wise, the Remaster stays true to the original: improved graphics, HD resolution, and the familiar bonus content from previous HD re-releases are included, while gameplay remains the original experience of Final Fantasy X and X-2 in one package. For Switch 2 owners who have missed out on these two RPGs until now, this should be one of the easier purchase decisions of the summer.
