EA Sports FC 26: Patch 1.6.5 Arrives After Weeks of Matchmaking Chaos

Things have been anything but smooth in EA Sports FC 26 for weeks. Since Title Update 1.6.4 on July 15, players in Clubs mode have consistently encountered “Matchmaking Failed” errors, making it impossible to start matches. EA has now publicly apologized for this and announced a follow-up patch.

Update 1.30, internally known as Patch 1.6.5 or Build 1.000.030, is intended to fix exactly this problem. The fix was originally slated for an earlier release but was delayed at short notice because internal tests revealed another potential bug. EA likely decided it was better to be late and thorough than quick and broken.

  • Fixes the frequent “Matchmaking Failed” errors in Clubs mode
  • Internally known as Build 1.000.030 / Patch 1.6.5
  • Currently only available for current-gen consoles (PS5, Xbox Series X/S)
  • Original release date was postponed due to a newly discovered bug
  • EA promises free Archetype Progression for all players as compensation if the fix is successful

The community is understandably frustrated: This isn't the first time this season that technical issues have crippled Clubs mode. It remains to be seen whether Patch 1.6.5 will truly resolve the issues this time – players on PC and last-gen consoles will also have to continue to wait, as the fix is not yet available there.
