Battlefield 6 is getting the third and final installment of Season 4 on September 15th: Tidal Strike. Following the recent bug fix round with Update 1.4.2.5 and the Top Gun crossover in August, DICE is now delivering the last major content wave of the current season – and it's packed with features.
What Does Tidal Strike Bring to Battlefield 6 and REDSEC?
At its core is the Deep Six Collection Event: Through tactical missions in Battlefield 6 and the Battle Royale spin-off REDSEC, you can unlock new items, with the main prize being the new melee weapon item, the Royal Navy Dive Knife. Additionally, there's the “Phantom Program” mystery sequence on the Fort Lyndon map: You collect scattered clues to assemble an access code and hack into the security system there. On top of that, there are new cosmetic attachments and further updates for the Portal builder.

How Does the New Proximity Chat Work in Battlefield 6?
Arguably the most exciting new feature is the first test of Proximity Chat. Via Battlefield Labs, the function will initially go live exclusively in REDSEC's Battle Royale mode. The principle: anyone standing near you can hear you – volume and direction are determined by your actual position, and walls and the environment dynamically muffle or block voices. This opens up entirely new tactical possibilities (and pitfalls), for example, if you suddenly hear an enemy squad talking without them noticing you. Because it's a Labs test, DICE can still adjust the feature based on feedback before it – if at all – makes its way into the regular multiplayer mode.
How Does Tidal Strike Fit into the Current Season 4?
Season 4 “Naval Warfare” is divided into three phases: It kicked off in July with “Pacific Front” (new map Tsuru Reef, three new weapons), followed in August by “Top Gun” with the return of Wake Island and the new Carrier Strike mode. Tidal Strike now marks the conclusion. Notably: Instead of only patching things up months after a season ends, as was common in earlier Battlefield titles, DICE has maintained a comparatively consistent update pace since launch – from large content phases to small bug fix patches like the recent 1.4.2.5. From our perspective, the Proximity Chat test, in particular, signals that Battlefield Labs will likely serve more often as a testing ground for larger, potentially risky changes before they land in the main game.
