Battlefield 6 Redsec is getting a new addition for Season 5: A new mode called Rapid Royale is on the horizon, and it's noticeably inspired by Call of Duty Warzone's popular Resurgence mode. We'll explain what this new speed-focused Battle Royale is all about and when you can play it.
Redsec, the free-to-play Battle Royale spin-off of Battlefield 6, has become an integral part of the game since its release in October 2025. With Rapid Royale, the mode is now getting a significantly faster variant, specifically designed to appeal to players who don't want 20-minute matches but prefer to jump straight into the next firefight.
How Does the New Rapid Royale Mode Work in Redsec?
Rapid Royale features smaller lobbies, tighter zones, and a much higher pace than the classic Redsec Battle Royale. The core principle can be summarized as follows:
- Kills and looted equipment crates earn you so-called Redeploy Tokens
- The longer a match lasts, the harder it becomes to get new tokens
- With enough tokens, you can bring fallen squad members directly back into the match instead of being completely eliminated
- It will be played on well-known Battlefield 6 maps, including the Vegas Strip
- Safety zones contract faster, making matches noticeably shorter than in regular Redsec Battle Royale
The result is intended to be a Battle Royale experience that is closer to classic multiplayer rounds than to the long marathon matches for which the genre is otherwise known.
When Does Rapid Royale Launch and How Closely Does it Resemble Warzone?
EA has not yet announced a specific launch date within Season 5, but the mode is expected to go live during the season. The parallels to Call of Duty are hard to miss: Warzone, with Resurgence, has established this exact principle of fast matches and revival through collected resources for years, creating its own very popular sub-mode. Battlefield is now structurally following suit with Rapid Royale.
From our perspective, the announcement primarily shows one thing: EA is no longer just accepting the direct comparison with Warzone but actively seeking it out. Battlefield long lacked its own Battle Royale mode, with Redsec arriving a good year late to the competition. With a Resurgence-like mode, Redsec is now positioning itself even more directly as an alternative for players who primarily come from the Warzone camp. Whether this will be enough to truly poach players from there remains to be seen once Rapid Royale is actually live.
