Battlefield 6: New Top Gun Trailer Shows Wake Island and Fighter Jets in Action

EA and DICE have released a new official trailer for the Top Gun collaboration in Battlefield 6. The content trailer kicks off Phase 2 of the ongoing fourth season and for the first time shows gameplay footage of what players can expect starting August 18. The highlight: The complete update is free for all owners of the base game.

What the New Trailer Shows

Instead of just teasing, this trailer reveals the concrete content. In summary, the Top Gun phase of Season 4 brings the following:

• Wake Island Returns: The legendary map from the very first Battlefield 1942 is completely rebuilt, featuring aircraft carrier headquarters for both teams and a focus on large-scale land, air, and sea battles.
• Two New Jets: Inspired by the F-14 Tomcat and F/A-18 Super Hornet from the films, the game features the two-seater F/A-81F “Super Spectre” and the folding-wing F-74A “Seacat” – both require coordinated pilot-navigator teamwork.
• Three Top Gun Characters: Rooster (voiced by Miles Teller), Bob (Lewis Pullman), and Warlock (Charles Parnell) are available as playable skins with original voice acting.
• Two New Modes: “Carrier Strike” revolves around sinking enemy aircraft carriers, while “Gauntlet: Fighter Sweep” is a pure aerial combat mode for jet duels.

Why Wake Island is More Than Just Nostalgia

For the community, the return of Wake Island is the real excitement, not the Hollywood crossover itself. The map is one of the longest-serving in the entire series, having hosted hours-long battles for two airfields in the original Battlefield 1942 back in 2002.
