Arc Raiders: Frozen Trail Update Brings New Map, ARC Enemies, and Decoratable Outposts

Arc Raiders is receiving its biggest update since launch: On October 8, 2026, developer Embark Studios will roll out the “Frozen Trail” update, and according to initial previews, the package is significantly more extensive than expected. In addition to a completely new snowy map, there's a menacing new ARC enemy type complete with a weapon upgrade system, and “Outposts” – a personal retreat that Raiders can customize for the first time.

What Does the Frozen Trail Update Bring to Arc Raiders?

At the heart of the update is the new map, Pendola Pass: a snowy, formerly Italian mountain village that once served as a staging ground for the Exodus Project and is now buried under a thick blanket of snow. The map heavily emphasizes elevation changes, open slopes, and narrow alleys between ruins, opening up entirely new tactical approaches for circumventing ARC patrols or engaging enemies from a distance. Initial concept art for the new region is already available on Embark Studios' official Arc Raiders website.

• New Map “Pendola Pass”: A snowy mountain village featuring significant elevation changes, open areas, and tight corridors.
• New ARC Enemies: The four-legged “Bully” aggressively charges with a mounted turret, the dog-like “Skulker” maintains distance for precise long-range shots, and the tower-like “Hydra” fires six weapons simultaneously at multiple targets.
• Endgame Boss “Frigate”: A flying, ship-like ARC behemoth that Raiders must climb and navigate obstacles on to reach the loot inside.
• Weapon Amplification: Weapons can be upgraded to an additional quality tier at a new research bench, gaining special effects like incendiary ammo or sustained fire. Two new weapons are also being added: the “Stiletto” assault rifle and the “Bantam” revolver.
• Personalizable Outposts: Your own base camp outside of Speranza, which you can furnish with furniture, decorations, and workstations.

How Exactly Do the New Outposts Work?

Outposts essentially serve as each Raider's personal base camp: a location outside the central settlement of Speranza, which can be filled with trophies, furniture, and various workstations. This also has practical benefits, as a fully upgraded research workstation in an outpost unlocks a fifth quality tier for some weapons. Those hoping to freely walk through their outpost will have to be patient for now: At launch, it's more of a menu with decoration options than a walkable space, but Embark Studios has already hinted at expanding the feature further in the future.

The date is set: The Frozen Trail Update will be released on October 8, 2026, for all platforms where Arc Raiders is available. Embark Studios has already published the official announcement trailer, “Frozen Trail: First Look,” featuring a first glimpse of Pendola Pass, the new ARC types, and the fresh weapons. This is precisely why “Frozen Trail” is a crucial benchmark: It's the first major content update in months that not only delivers new settings but also significantly impacts loadout gameplay with the weapon amplification system and aims to create genuine long-term motivation beyond raids with the outposts. Whether this will be enough to bring players back will likely become clear in the weeks following October 8. Developer Embark Studios is clearly focusing on content depth rather than just cosmetic tidbits.
