Arc Raiders: Frozen Trail Update Brings New Map, ARC Enemies, and Decoratable Outposts

Arc Raiders is getting its biggest update since release: On October 8, 2026, developer Embark Studios will roll out the “Frozen Trail” update, and according to initial previews, the package is significantly more extensive than expected. In addition to a completely new snow map, there's a nasty new ARC enemy type with a weapon upgrade system, and with the “Outposts,” players will get a personal retreat that Raiders can furnish themselves for the first time.

What does the Frozen Trail Update bring to Arc Raiders?

The heart of the update is the new map, Pendola Pass: a snowy, formerly Italian mountain village that once served as a hub for the Exodus Project and is now covered under a thick blanket of snow. The map heavily emphasizes elevation changes, open slopes, and narrow alleys between ruins, opening up entirely new tactical ways to bypass ARC patrols or take down enemies from a distance. The official Arc Raiders website from Embark Studios already features initial concept art of the new region.

• New Map “Pendola Pass”: snowy mountain village with significant elevation changes, open areas, and narrow corridors.
• New ARC Enemies: the four-legged “Bully” aggressively charges with a mounted turret, the dog-like “Skulker” maintains distance for precise long-range shots, and the tower-like “Hydra” fires with six weapons simultaneously at multiple targets.
• Endgame Boss “Frigate”: a flying, ship-like ARC behemoth that Raiders must climb and navigate obstacles on to reach the loot inside.
• Weapon Amplification: At a new research bench, weapons can be upgraded to an additional quality tier and gain special effects like incendiary ammo or sustained fire. Two new weapons are also being added: the “Stiletto” assault rifle and the “Bantam” revolver.
• Personalizable Outposts: a personal base outside Speranza that can be furnished with furniture, decorations, and workbenches.

How exactly do the new Outposts work?

Outposts are essentially each Raider's personal base camp: a place away from the central settlement of Speranza, which can be filled with trophies, furniture, and various workbenches. This also proves practical, as a fully upgraded research workstation in the Outpost unlocks a fifth quality tier for some weapons. Those currently hoping to freely walk through their Outpost will have to wait: at launch, it's more of a menu with decoration options than a walkable space, but Embark Studios has already hinted at expanding the feature in the future.

Since then, daily player engagement has noticeably leveled off, as almost always happens with live-service titles after the launch hype. This is precisely why “Frozen Trail” is an important indicator: it's the first major content update in months that not only provides new scenery but also significantly impacts the loadout gameplay with the weapon amplification system and aims to create genuine long-term motivation beyond the raids with the Outposts. Whether this will be enough to bring players back should become clear in the weeks following October 8. Developer Embark Studios is clearly focusing on content depth rather than mere cosmetic additions.
