Team Ninja has made it official: Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember will launch on March 4, 2027, for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2. The release date was announced on September 15, 2026, on the PlayStation Blog – and for those who can't wait until 2027, you can jump right in, as a free alpha demo is playable now.
When Does Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember Release?
The release date is set: March 4, 2027. This places the successor to Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty in the packed spring release calendar. Versions for PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2 have been confirmed – so Team Ninja is aiming for broad platform availability from the start instead of a console exclusivity deal.
How Do I Get the Wo Long 2 Alpha Demo?
A free alpha demo has been available for download since September 15th or 16th, 2026. It's intended to offer a first look at the revamped combat system and the new fantasy world of the “Wings of Ember” storyline. Team Ninja has not yet communicated how long the demo will remain available or whether an expanded beta will be released later.
Is Wo Long 2 Launching on Game Pass?
According to a report from IGN, Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember will be available directly on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate at launch on March 4, 2027. Day-one titles on Game Pass are nothing new for Koei Tecmo and Team Ninja, but they should further help the game's reach on a competitive release date.
For context: The first Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty was released in 2023 and brought Team Ninja's notoriously tough Soulslike formula, known from the Nioh series, to a fantasy setting based on the Three Kingdoms era. Instead of pure historical realism, the game blended demons, magic, and a deflect-based combat system that was faster and more aggressive than, for example, From Software's titles. With “Wings of Ember,” Team Ninja appears to be consistently evolving this fantasy approach: the subtitle hints at an even more magically charged setting, while the immediately playable alpha demo shows that the studio wants to gather community feedback early – an approach also seen recently with other major action RPGs.

Those who want to find out more in advance can find additional details on the official Team Ninja website and in the PlayStation Store once the game's listing goes live there.
