Rockstar isn't just letting the music for GTA 6 play in the game; they're also bringing it to your shelves: “Grand Theft Auto VI: The Original Score” is now available for pre-order on vinyl and CD. It was composed by the French electronic duo Justice, who had already garnered attention with two songs related to Grand Theft Auto VI. The release is set for December 11th, roughly a month after the game's launch.
What's in the GTA 6 Original Score?
According to IGN, the album contains 30 official tracks, plus digital bonus tracks. Together, that's approximately three hours of music. The tracklist on Apple Music, with the bonus material, even suggests around 50 songs, but this number is not officially confirmed. You're already familiar with two pieces: “Flower in a Hurricane,” featuring Tame Impala, SZA, and King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, was heard in the launch trailer, and “Pusher” was created with Gesaffelstein.
Which Editions Are Available on Vinyl and CD?
- Vinyl: 3-LP set with a UV-gloss finish. The black variant is available at Amazon, while a limited clear edition can be found in the Justice shop.
- CD: Two discs in a fold-out case featuring GTA 6 motifs.
- Release: December 11th.
Is the Score the Same as “GTA 6: The Album”?
No, and this is where confusion can arise. “GTA 6: The Album” is a separate release featuring retailer-exclusive vinyls, available at Amazon, Best Buy, Target, Walmart, Barnes & Noble, and the Rockstar shop, among others. Justice’s Original Score, on the other hand, is the film-score-like accompaniment to the game. So, if you want both, you'll have to purchase them separately.
What Does This Mean for You as a Player?
From our perspective, the score is primarily for collectors: The music will only be released after the game launches, so you can't listen to it beforehand to set the mood. If you've already pre-ordered GTA 6 itself, you can at least stick to the date we've already discussed: According to our report on the download size, the preload starts on November 12th, and the game itself releases on November 19th. Pre-order prices will vary depending on the shop; for limited editions, keep an eye out for quick sell-outs.
