According to the official announcement on September 19th, CESA anticipates significantly strengthening winds and rain due to the typhoon on Monday afternoon, in addition to the risk of train services and other public transport in the Chiba region being restricted or completely suspended. This would have potentially prevented visitors, exhibitor staff, and convention employees from returning home safely in the evening. For safety reasons, CESA therefore pulled the plug and canceled the entire Monday of the Tokyo Game Show 2026 without replacement. Exhibitors are currently reviewing whether some of the stage programs and announcements originally scheduled for Monday can instead take place as purely online broadcasts or be moved to earlier slots – so a complete cancellation of all Monday content is not necessarily a given, but nothing further can be planned on the exhibition floor itself.
For TGS as a whole, this is a bitter blow, as 2026 was meant to be the longest edition in its history with the new fifth day.
