Subnautica 2: Early Access 2.0 Launches in December 2026

Good news for all divers: Unknown Worlds has narrowed down the release window for Subnautica 2's major EA 2.0 update. It's launching later this year, specifically in December 2026. The studio still hasn't provided an exact date.

When is Subnautica 2 EA 2.0 Launching?

According to PC Games, this information was subtly tucked away in a side note of a new developer video. After several weeks of uncertainty, the month is finally confirmed. This marks the most extensive update yet for the Early Access survival hit.

What's Coming in the Update for Players?

  • A new, and so far darkest, underwater region filled with dangerous creatures
  • New systems that make creature behavior more dynamic and lifelike
  • An even more unpredictable gigantic Harvester Leviathan
  • The FROG Chassis for the Tadpole, which gives the vehicle a kind of arms and legs, opening up new exploration possibilities
  • New Bio-Mods for character customization, as well as a permanently anchored boost function

Our Take on the Update

From our perspective, the December release is a smart move: The update lands before the holidays, when many players have time for gaming. Those diving in already should keep an eye on their progress and prepare for a significantly more dangerous ocean. We'll keep you updated as soon as Unknown Worlds announces a specific date.
