Pokémon Pokopia: 5 Million Units Sold in Just Four Months

Ditto as the hero of its own city-building simulation – that still sounded like a niche experiment from Nintendo back in March. Now the numbers show: It was a massive hit. As Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have officially confirmed, Pokémon Pokopia has sold over 5 million copies worldwide, just over four months after its release on March 5, 2026.

In this relaxed life simulation and crafting game, you take on the role of a special Ditto that uses its transformation powers and new crafting skills to bring a devastated landscape back to life. The game was released exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2 and was one of the flagship titles for Nintendo's new console from the very beginning.

How Fast Did Pokémon Pokopia Sell?

The success didn't happen overnight but in clear waves: Within the first four days after release, Nintendo sold 2.2 million units. According to official figures, another 2.41 million sales were added in the fourth business quarter of fiscal year 2026, followed by another 1.27 million units in the first quarter of fiscal year 2027. In total, sales figures now stand at over 5 million – and reports indicate that approximately 21 percent of all Switch 2 owners have now purchased the game, meaning about one in five.

What Does This Success Mean for the Future of Pokémon Pokopia?

For players, this is more than just a number in a press release: such strong sales success increases the likelihood that Nintendo and The Pokémon Company will continue to heavily invest in support. In fact, this is already visible – in addition to a free update allowing players to learn the Dive move and explore underwater for the first time, Part 2 of the paid Expansion Pass is announced for late 2026, with Part 3, featuring a completely new city to rebuild, set to follow in 2027.
