This year's Fest season for Pokémon GO is entering its final stage: Niantic has officially confirmed the date for the "GO Fest: Mega Finale." The grand finale of this year's Fest series will take place on September 5th and 6th, 2026 – perfectly coinciding with Pokémon GO's 10th anniversary.
What We Know So Far
The event will run on both days from 10 AM to 7 PM local time and, like previous Fest dates this year, is designed to be global – Trainers worldwide can participate simultaneously without being tied to a specific location. Niantic has not yet revealed specific details about which Pokémon, Raids, or bonuses will be featured. However, given the significant anniversary, it's safe to assume that the studio will put extra effort into the season's grand finale. Historically, Mega Finale events bring increased spawn rates for especially rare Pokémon, special research tasks, and usually at least one major Raid Boss – Niantic plans to release concrete details on these in the coming weeks.
After the Tech Chaos: A Chance for Redemption?
For the community, this date doesn't come without a backstory: Just a few days ago, we reported on the global compensation event following the technical issues during the regular GO Fest. Niantic's announcement of an additional, clearly scheduled highlight with the Mega Finale should also be seen as a signal to frustrated Trainers: The season is meant to end with a true highlight despite the initial difficulties, rather than simply fizzling out without comment.
From our perspective, this would be a clever move – provided the servers actually hold up this time. After the chaos at the regular Fest, the community will likely be watching this event particularly closely to see if Niantic has done its technical homework. Especially with the significant anniversary, another bumpy start would be a particularly poor reflection for a game that, after ten years, still gathers an astonishingly active community around it.
