Even almost two years after its release, Insomniac Games continues to support Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, having released a free update on July 28. At the heart of it are two new suits, both of which tie into current Marvel projects.
What’s in the New Update
The first new suit is the “Fresh Start Suit,” visually inspired by Tom Holland’s look from the upcoming film “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” which premieres in cinemas on July 31. The second suit is based on the design of the upcoming fighting game Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls from Arc System Works. In addition to the cosmetic content, the update brings technical improvements: On the PS5 Pro, there’s now full support for the sharper PSSR upscaling, plus a new Power-Saver Mode designed to reduce the console’s energy consumption during gameplay.
Not Without a Few Hiccups
According to initial player reports, picked up by outlets like Kotaku, those who install the update should expect minor bugs, such as issues with the new suits appearing in the menu or occasional stuttering immediately after the patch. No major save-game issues have been reported so far, but given these reports, a follow-up patch isn’t likely to be far off. For anyone who just wants to wear the new suits: Both are available immediately and for free in the suit menu; no re-download or purchase is necessary, as the update installs automatically upon your next game launch.
