League of Legends Patch 26.19: Pro-Level Refinements Ahead of Worlds 2026

Patch 26.19 went live on September 23rd, 2026 — and it's quite significant. According to the official patch notes from Riot Games, this is the first of two pro-focused updates designed to prepare League of Legends for the 2026 World Championship. Instead of a massive overhaul, there are targeted adjustments to champions, items, and systems — just before the best teams in the world battle for the Summoner's Cup.

The extent of the changes is striking: Six champions are being nerfed, nine buffed, and one — Lucian — specifically reworked. The clear focus is on Jungle and Top Lane balance, as well as system changes that will be felt in ranked play at every level.

What Champions Are Affected in Patch 26.19?

Riot is making many small adjustments in Patch 26.19. Here's an overview of the most important changes, summarized in our own words:

  • Nasus (Nerf): The bonus damage from Siphoning Strike (Q) decreases from 40-120 to 30-110 — making him easier to punish in lane before his stacks truly scale.
  • Nocturne (Nerf): The cooldown of his ultimate increases from 140-90 to 160-100 seconds, making global ganks less frequent.
  • Poppy & Rumble (Jungle Adjustment): Poppy's Hammer Shock loses maximum damage against monsters, while Rumble loses attack speed in the overheated state late game but gains more damage against monsters.
  • Ryze (Nerf): Higher mana cost on E and less bonus damage on Q Flux, in exchange for slightly more armor growth as compensation.
  • Vi (Nerf): Less early attack damage and a smaller shield.
  • Aatrox (Buff): Shorter cooldown on Infernal Chains (W) at early ranks and stronger healing from Umbral Dash with high bonus health.
  • Aphelios (Buff): Several weapons are strengthened across the board, including more damage with Calibrum (Moonshot).
  • Kha’Zix (Buff): More damage from Unseen Threat, as well as a longer slow on Evolved Void Spike and increased range on Evolved Leap.
  • Lucian (Rework): Less On-hit damage from Vigilance, but more base damage on Piercing Light — he is intended to be less reliant on strong support partners like Nami or Milio.
  • Top Lane Teleport (System): The cooldown of the role-quest Teleport is reduced (Free TP from 420 to 390 seconds, Upgraded Unleashed TP from 330-240 to 300-210 seconds) to make split-pushing more attractive again.
  • Support Items (System): World Atlas and Runic Compass trade base health for more regeneration (Health 30/100/200 to 0/60/150, Regen 25/50/75% to 50/75/75%) — a noticeable buff for melee supports in lane.

The patch isn't going live in isolation: In parallel, the World Star Challengers Invitational has been running since September 20th, which for the first time pits 16 Tier-2 teams from China, Korea, APAC, America, and EMEA against each other. The group stage runs until September 25th, after which eight teams will compete in a best-of-five knockout format until the finals on October 2nd for international stage experience — a test run for the next generation of international talent.

What Does Patch 26.19 Mean for Ranked Players and the Scene?

For solo queue players, this primarily means: Nasus, Nocturne, Ryze, and Vi mains will need to adjust to tougher matches, while Aatrox, Aphelios, and Kha'Zix players can look forward to noticeable buffs. The shift in support items should make melee supports like Rell or Alistar more robust in lane, while pure poke supports become somewhat more vulnerable. Top laners with split-push ambitions also gain significantly more leeway to push side lanes alone thanks to the shorter Teleport cooldowns.

It's no coincidence that Riot is adjusting champion and item balance right now: According to their own statements, Patch 26.19 is the first of two Worlds patches intended to eliminate the last uncertainties before the tournament — only Patch 26.20 will ultimately be the patch on which the 2026 World Championship will actually be held. Those who have followed the European scene recently might recall G2 Esports' dominant 20th LEC title at the Summer Finals — it's precisely these top teams that are now making their final fine-tuning adjustments before the World Championship with the new patch, while the next generation of talent is already vying for attention in the World Star Challengers Invitational.
