IEM Beijing: The MongolZ Defeat NAVI, Advance to Grand Final

The Mongolian CS2 team The MongolZ have reached the Grand Final of IEM Beijing 2026. They defeated Natus Vincere 2-0 in the semifinals. This is the team's first Big Event final in 14 months.

How did the two maps against NAVI play out?

The maps played were Cache and Inferno. The decision on Inferno was a close 13:11. HLTV's report does not specify the score for Cache. The role distribution within The MongolZ was notable:

  • Garidmagnai “bLitz” Byambasuren was highlighted by HLTV as the best player of the match.
  • Sodbayar “Techno” Munkhbold won a 1v2 clutch on Inferno.
  • Yesuntumur “nin9” Gantulga and Anarbileg “cobrazera” Uuganbayar contributed crucial multi-kills.

On the opposing side, Ihor “w0nderful” Zhdanov had been strong throughout the tournament. He struggled on Cache but bounced back on Inferno, though ultimately it wasn't enough for NAVI.

Why is this Grand Final so special for The MongolZ?

The team's last Big Event final appearance was at FISSURE Playground 2 in September 2025. Since then, they haven't had a major breakthrough. The fact that this success comes against NAVI further emphasizes its significance: the Ukrainians were considered one of the most in-form teams at this tournament. For a Mongolian team aiming to establish itself among the world's elite, reaching the final sends an important message.

Who awaits The MongolZ in the final?

This was not yet determined at the time of publication. In the second semifinal, MOUZ will face the winner of the match between FURIA and BetBoom. The tournament runs until November 8th, so the Grand Final is expected to take place on Sunday. We will update the matchup as soon as the opponent is known. For the Mongolians, it's a chance for their first major title of this magnitude, and with their victory over NAVI, they enter the final as a serious contender.
