Halo: Campaign Evolved Gets Major Update with Five Key Changes

Halo Studios has officially announced the next patch content for Halo: Campaign Evolved. While no concrete date has been set, the studio has indicated the week of August 17-21 as the release window. Important for all players currently in the middle of a mission: saves within an ongoing mission will become invalid with the update, so if you're playing a mission, you should complete it before the patch.

What Exactly Changes with the New Halo Update?

Halo Studios has outlined five key points that will arrive with the patch:

• An adjustment to a scene featuring Sergeant Johnson, which previously could block mission progress
• More reliable staggering of Jackal enemies when hands or feet are specifically targeted
• A fix ensuring Marines and Flood Marines correctly fire their assault rifles when the "Magnified" Skull is active
• New options to completely disable chromatic aberration and film grain in the display options
• Further general stability improvements across multiple platforms

Why is the Progress Fix So Important for Players?

Blocked mission progress is among the most frustrating bugs imaginable, as in the worst cases, it can completely nullify an entire campaign playthrough – and this is precisely what seems to affect the aforementioned Johnson scene. The two new graphics options, in turn, directly address a long-standing community concern: chromatic aberration and film grain are among the effects most frequently criticized in modern games because they make the image appear blurry or washed out. The fact that Halo Studios is making improvements here shows that community feedback is being taken seriously. From our perspective, the Jackal stagger fix is particularly relevant gameplay-wise: players fighting these enemies in close quarters should now be more reliably rewarded for targeting hands and feet, rather than experiencing unpredictable reactions as before.
