Important Note: This is a rumor that has NOT yet been officially confirmed by Nvidia.
The GeForce RTX 5090 could soon be gone from shelves for good: According to reports, Nvidia has halted production of what's considered the world's fastest gaming graphics card. GameStar states this report originates from Computerbase.

Why Is Nvidia Allegedly Discontinuing the RTX 5090?
According to the rumor, production capacities are being reallocated to favor AI cards from the RTX Pro series. This wouldn't be a coincidence: AI computing hardware is currently selling in massive quantities at high prices, and that's precisely what's reshaping the gaming graphics card market.
What Does an RTX 5090 Currently Cost?
The figures are sobering. At its launch in early 2025, the MSRP was 2,329 Euros, and it wasn't until around summer 2025 that it became available at that price. Afterward, prices surged to 4,500 Euros – which now seems almost affordable.
- According to GameStar, 31 models are currently available for immediate delivery on Geizhals, though from very few retailers.
- The lowest price currently stands at 6,149 Euros, with the most expensive offer reaching 11,079 Euros.
- On eBay, 57 completed sales of new units averaged around 5,000 Euros.
Is There Even a Successor in Sight?
As of now, the RTX 6000 series might not appear until 2028, and there's no confirmed information on that. Historically, predecessors and successors often coexisted in retail for some time. This time, the top-tier model could vanish long before a successor is anywhere near release.
What Does This Mean for Gamers?
Gamers hoping for an RTX 5090 should brace for even tighter stock and higher prices – the used market will likely become more crucial. We've seen memory and AI demand strain the market even for consoles: The PS5 Pro now costs over 1,300 Euros. From our perspective, a clear pattern is emerging: gaming hardware is increasingly becoming a secondary business for major manufacturers. Still, the discontinuation of the RTX 5090 remains unconfirmed – we'll keep you updated.
