Fortnite: Power Hour Brings Back Boosted Sprites and Overdrive Grenades

Epic Games has once again activated the Power Hour in Fortnite. Two distinct time windows over the weekend offered significantly stronger rewards: from 4 PM to 6 PM German time, and again from 3 AM to 5 AM on Sunday morning, the boosts were active in Chapter 7 Season 4.

As usual, the announcement came directly via the official Fortnite account on X. Epic traditionally doesn't provide exact percentage values for the boosts, but in practice, the affected items spawn noticeably more frequently than usual during these windows.

What Exactly is a Power Hour in Fortnite?

The Power Hour is a recurring, limited-time event that Epic uses to temporarily enhance certain seasonal mechanics, aiming to bring more players into matches simultaneously. Unlike permanent patches, these boosts are only active within the announced window and completely disappear afterward. This round focused on the following boosts:

  • Gold Sprites: significantly increased spawn rate on the map
  • Cheat Master Sprites: also more frequently discoverable
  • Overdrive Grenades: enhanced effect right at the start of the match
  • Bonus Loot: 1-Up Tokens and portable Extractors appear more often in chests

Is it Worth Logging in Specifically for the Power Hour?

For frequent players, absolutely: If you play regularly anyway, you can acquire rare Sprites and bonus loot noticeably faster during the boost windows than under normal conditions. From our perspective, however, the second session at 3 AM is quite inconveniently scheduled – this is likely to benefit primarily US players during prime time, while the European community might largely miss out. Epic has been scheduling such late-night slots more frequently lately, which regularly draws criticism in community forums.

Anyone who doesn't want to miss the next Power Hour should keep an eye on the official Fortnite channel – new dates are usually announced only a few hours in advance.
