New season, new crossover power: Chapter 7, Season 4 of Fortnite, titled 'Override,' officially launched with update v42.00 on August 20, 2026. Epic Games is bringing several gaming legends on board for this, and as a result, the island looks significantly different.

At the heart of the new season is a genuine gaming legends crossover. 'Override' specifically brings the following content:

• A Mythic ability from Sonic: the "Spin Dash," allowing you to move across the map at lightning speed.
• New skins and cosmetic crossovers with Tetris and Mega Man.
• "Green Hill Zone" as a completely new Point of Interest on the map – taken directly from the Sonic universe.
• A new Battle Pass with corresponding season skins to unlock.

How Long Does the Season Last and What Do You Need to Do for the New Skins?

As with every season, you'll primarily get the new Sonic, Tetris, and Mega Man skins through the Battle Pass. You unlock it as usual with V-Bucks and then progress through levels via matches and quests to gradually unlock individual skins and cosmetic items. Sonic's "Spin Dash" ability can be found as a Mythic item directly on the map, including around the new Green Hill Zone.
