Esports World Cup 2026: Rainbow Six Siege – Group Stage Underway, $2 Million and a SI 2027 Slot Up for Grabs

While multiple titles are already running simultaneously at the Esports World Cup 2026 in Paris, Rainbow Six Siege is also in the spotlight. 22 teams are competing in the group stage, including well-known names like Team Secret, FaZe Clan, and Fnatic. They are playing for a massive prize pool of $2 million – one of the highest prize pools the Siege scene has to offer outside of the Six Invitational.

Format and What's at Stake

The group stage is currently underway and will determine which teams qualify for the knockout stage. In addition to the prize money, there's a second, equally important sporting incentive: a slot for the Six Invitational 2027, the most prestigious tournament in the entire Rainbow Six scene. For many of the 22 teams, this slot might even outweigh the prize money itself, as SI participation directly impacts sponsorships and roster planning for the coming year.

Who's Competing

The field of participants is internationally diverse. In addition to the aforementioned organizations Team Secret, FaZe Clan, and Fnatic, numerous other top teams from Europe, North America, Latin America, and Asia are competing – a format inherent to the Esports World Cup as a cross-region tournament, and one that Siege fans otherwise only get to see in this density at the Six Invitational itself.

Context: Why the EWC Has Become So Important for Siege Teams

Since its introduction, the Esports World Cup has established itself as a kind of unofficial mid-season world championship spanning multiple games – and for Rainbow Six Siege, it has become the second most important event on the calendar, right after the Six Invitational. This is primarily due to the prize money, which surpasses many regular season league events, and the direct path to SI qualification. From our perspective, precisely this combination makes the EWC so attractive for organizations and players: strong performance here not only secures a substantial prize pool but also provides a real competitive advantage for the year's most important event. Simultaneously, the group stage of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is also running in Paris – find out more in our article on the Black Ops 7 group stage.
