"Escape from Playtime": Poppy Playtime Spin-off Gets Early Access Release Date

The Poppy Playtime series is expanding: Developer Mob Entertainment is launching "Escape from Playtime," a standalone co-op survival horror spin-off that focuses on extraction mechanics. Now, it's confirmed when players will first be able to sneak through the halls of Playtime Co. themselves – and it's sooner than many fans expected.

When Does Escape from Playtime Launch into Early Access?

The Early Access launch on Steam is confirmed for October 21, 2026. The game was announced at Gamescom, and since then, Mob Entertainment has consistently provided new details. At launch, according to current plans, the complete eight-character roster, a first playable zone, and a core selection of enemy types will be available – the scope is set to gradually expand during the Early Access phase.

What is Escape from Playtime About?

Unlike the main series, the spin-off doesn't send players through the abandoned toy factory as humans, but as tiny "Smiling Critters" – the cuddly, yet no longer entirely harmless plush toy characters from the Poppy Playtime universe. Alone or in a co-op team, up to four players battle their way through procedurally generated sections of the Playtime Co. factory, gathering resources and trying to escape the company's monstrous creations before time runs out. This interplay of resource hunting, fleeing, and increasing risk is the core principle of the extraction genre, which "Escape from Playtime" now combines with the familiar horror setting.
