No sooner has EA Sports FC 26 celebrated a new milestone than complaints are piling up: numerous players are reporting login errors, disconnected connections, and matchmaking problems today. While there's no talk of a complete server blackout, a partial outage is clearly noticeable.
What's Broken Right Now
Affected users are primarily reporting two types of issues. Based on reports, the majority of problems involve disconnections from EA servers, with a smaller portion relating to failed matchmaking in online modes like Ultimate Team.
- Failed logins with server timeout messages
- Disconnections in the middle of matchmaking, sometimes with loss of ongoing game progress
- Occasional error codes when accessing online modes
- Reports affect PC and console players alike
As of yet, there is no official outage report from EA on their server status page, which further increases uncertainty among affected players.
The Record Just Before the Trouble
The timing is particularly ironic: Just a few days ago, EA Sports FC 26 hit a new all-time high for the series on Steam with over 160,000 concurrent players. And precisely after that, technical issues are now piling up. This isn't necessarily a coincidence – higher server load due to more concurrent users is a classic trigger for exactly these kinds of connection problems. Furthermore, on July 24th, EA had already confirmed scheduled maintenance for FC 26 and FC 25, meaning today's problems are not isolated but part of a turbulent week for server operations. For players, this specifically means: If you can't get in right now, you should try again in a few hours instead of reinstalling the game or switching accounts – it's usually simply due to server load, not your own access. The concurrently running competitive play is also not affected for the first time: Just recently, a PSN outage led to a postponement of the EA FC Pro World Championship.
