Cyberpunk 2077 Arrives on Battle.net – and Geralt Appears in Diablo 4

Day two of BlizzCon 2026 brought a genuine surprise: CD Projekt Red and Blizzard are deepening their collaboration, which was already teased at Gamescom. Specifically, this means two things: Cyberpunk 2077 will also be available on Battle.net in the future, and a bona fide Geralt of Rivia will appear as a skin for the Barbarian class in Diablo 4.

For many players, the combination initially seems peculiar: A story-driven Cyberpunk RPG on Blizzard's launcher, and the White Wolf from The Witcher 3 right in the heart of Sanctuary. However, behind the announcement lies a tangible business logic for both studios.

Why is CD Projekt Red bringing Cyberpunk 2077 to Battle.net, of all places?

Officially, neither CD Projekt Red nor Blizzard has cited a deeper reason than “deepened partnership” – leaving much room for speculation. It's plausible that both studios want to tap into each other's user bases: Battle.net players will get access to a CD Projekt Red game outside of Steam and GOG for the first time, while Blizzard can attract additional customers to its platform with one of the best-selling RPGs of recent years. A console port has not yet been announced; for now, it remains PC via Battle.net.

What exactly does the Geralt skin offer for Diablo 4 Barbarians?

The skin is not a standalone purchase, but is tied to a pre-order: Anyone who pre-orders the upcoming Witcher 3 expansion “Songs of the Past” via Battle.net will automatically receive the Geralt look for the Diablo 4 Barbarian class. According to CD Projekt Red, the Barbarian was chosen specifically because both characters are “masters of physical strength.” Important for Steam and console players: The skin is exclusively tied to Battle.net; those who purchase The Witcher 3 elsewhere will miss out.

How does this collaboration fit into the history of both studios?

This partnership is no mere coincidence: CD Projekt Red and Blizzard had already teased a closer collaboration at Gamescom, without revealing details. Now it's clear what that was about. The timing is also no coincidence: The Witcher 3 Remastered launches on Battle.net on September 29, 2026, and “Songs of the Past” is the first major Witcher 3 expansion since “Blood and Wine” in 2016 – almost a decade's hiatus. CD Projekt Red is already announcing that the Geralt skin is “not all” and that more content will follow in 2027. From our perspective, this is one of the more unusual, but also smartest, marketing collaborations of the year: Instead of another generic cross-promo skin, both fan bases get a tangible reason to check out the other platform.
