Today is Cup Day: The Champion Focus FNCS Cup is taking place on September 20, 2026, around the globe, staggered by region and featuring multiple modes. Anyone who puts in a few strong rounds today can save themselves the cost of the Champion Focus skin and secure it instead through a good tournament placement – for free.
According to the official tournament rules, this event is a Solo tournament, but it's not limited to classic Battle Royale. Epic Games is also providing parallel sessions for Zero Build, Reload, and even a dedicated Mobile Cup. This means: whether you prefer building, playing without builds, or gaming on your phone on the go – there's a session for you.
When Does the Champion Focus FNCS Cup Start in My Region?
Start times vary by region and mode. According to official tournament data from Fortnite Tracker, the key time windows for today are as follows:
- Europe (EU): Battle Royale and Zero Build approx. 18:00–22:00 CEST, the Mobile Cup runs approx. 18:00–19:15 CEST
- NA Central: Mobile Cup 18:00–19:15, Battle Royale and Zero Build 19:00–22:00 (all times local)
- NA West: Mobile Cup 20:00–21:15, Battle Royale and Zero Build 21:00–00:00 (all times local)
- Additional sessions are also running in Oceania, the Middle East, and Asia, each with regional start times.
The Battle Royale and Zero Build sessions each last approximately three hours, during which you can play as many matches as possible. Reload sessions are shorter: you'll have about 1 hour and 15 minutes and a maximum of eight matches to collect points.
How Do I Get the Champion Focus Skin for Free?
The skin is part of the current FNCS set and is regularly available for 1,500 V-Bucks in the Item Shop. If you want to save your V-Bucks, you need to score points in the Cup: Kills and good placements earn points, and your overall score across all matches played in the session counts in the end. According to the in-game display, there's a clear condition: If you place among the Top 100 in your region in your session, the Champion Focus skin will be automatically unlocked for you.
Practically, this means: log in with your Epic account in good time, select the correct playlist for your mode and region, and play as many matches as possible within the time window. An aggressive playstyle with eliminations is particularly rewarding in this format, as points for kills count just as much as points for survival. If you don't make it into the Top 100, you won't leave empty-handed – anyone who accumulates enough total points across the matches can still unlock additional cosmetic items, such as a matching back bling.
Such “Champion” Cups have now become a regular fixture in the FNCS calendar. Similar community cups – for instance, centered around other skins – have existed in previous seasons, allowing players to secure cosmetic items via tournament placement rather than purchase. The Champion Focus FNCS Cup thus joins a format that Epic Games repeatedly uses to link competition with Item Shop content.
