Barely has the dust settled from the first major outage, and Battlefield 6 is already experiencing issues again: Players in the UK, USA, and Canada are once more reporting login errors, disconnected matches, and the now-infamous “Unknown Error” with code 1:85009S. Xbox users appear to be particularly affected, but complaints are also accumulating on PC. Both the regular multiplayer and the free Battle Royale mode REDSEC are impacted.

What's Going Wrong This Time
The outage tracker Downdetector shows another significant spike in reports for July 28th – following an initial spike on Sunday evening and another early Monday morning. Specifically, affected users are reporting the following problems:
- Login fails or disconnects mid-loading screen
- Matchmaking can't find servers or kicks players out of ongoing matches
- The generic error code 1:85009S appears in many reports, without specifying a clear cause
- According to Downdetector, over 430 reports came in on July 28th alone within just a few hours
- Xbox players are disproportionately reporting outages, but PC and some PlayStation users are also affected
Not an Isolated Incident: We've Seen This Before With the First Outage
This problem isn't entirely new: Just last Monday, we reported on the massive server outage for Battlefield 6, which also brought login and multiplayer to a standstill for hours. The fact that the problem has now returned within a few days suggests that the underlying cause was apparently not truly fixed the first time, but at most, temporarily patched. The pattern is also striking: Once again, EA has yet to officially comment on the cause or a timeline for a permanent solution – just like with the first incident. For a game that is just starting to gain noticeable momentum with Season 4, repeated server issues are incredibly bad timing: Anyone who has painstakingly rebuilt trust within the community risks losing a piece of it with every subsequent silent outage.
From our perspective, transparency is what's needed most right now: A brief official statement identifying the cause and providing a rough timeframe for a solution would help the community more than persistent silence – especially since the problems are recurring for the second time within a few days.
